Sports Culture in India

Sports culture in India- India is a land with diverse culture. It is therefore said that “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”. Sports culture in India can be traced long back as pre-British era,or even to the vedic age sports but some kind of games/ sports  were known to them. Games played in ancient  India were boat race, dhopkhel, asal aap(canoe race of Nicobar people), kabbadi, kho kho ,mallkhamb, kirip(popular kind of wrestling amoung nicobars tribe) ,mukna (combination of wrestling and judo originated in Manipur),archery played in Manipur goes back to year 3100 b.c., martial arts is one of the sport form  as art form which includes fighting equipment that comprises a sword and shield, now modified into a stick encased in soft leather and a shield made of leather. These games and sports are still relevant and popular in India but has not got enough recognition at national and international level, though kabbadi and some other games have gained immune importance after its tremendous show in recent world cup of kabbadi. Every state or region has its own different game and is been played it  in its own style according to individual or group, indoor or outdoor , most of the games played are outdoor  only.
The most popular sports that people follows play and are passionate about the sport are cricket which is immensely popular in India and people of all age group are influenced by it and follow it. After cricket, football, badminton , lawn-tennis, hockey, etc is been quite popular among the youth and kids.
Though hockey is national game/sport of India , it is cricket which has joined more popularity as cricket was introduced  by British but Indians gained great success and achieved great heights while playing cricket in international arena. Cricket is been played in every part of our country at various lovely and there is a popular saying in cricket as ‘cricket is my religion and Sachin is my god’. Therefore we can say cricket is the most widely spread game across are country. But we should not focus only on cricket as we Indians are proud of our national game as well as other ancient games that originated in India. Hockey was at its peak when major dhyanchand won consecutive gold medals for India at Olympic. There are many other sports apart from cricket hockey are known to us and played by people in different parts of the country.
Sports culture in India as we can see that there are various of sports and games playing in India of which we should be proud about.
Sports culture of India is not very rich but is quite good and the excellence of players and teams in different sports is very good and is developing. Sports in India especially in metropolitan cities like Mumbai,Delhi, Banglore, Kolkata,Chennai is seen from a border perspective and the infrastructure facility provided here are superior than other parts of our country.
Players from various part of country come and take part in boxing , wrestling , judo, athletics etc but the facilities provided to them are not so good therefore these is dire need for development  in the infrastructure facilities and the facilities provided to the players take part in this game. But due to inefficiency of facility players are not willing to participate in these games to some these games it is the duty of government, corporate sector and even the association of sports to save the deteriorating culture of sports in India
There is one more reason deteriorating culture of sports that is invention of modern technology so people rather play on tablet, p.c, Android etc rather than going outside and playing. Though passionate people go and show their talent an skills
Therefore we can see that sports culture in India has seen a lot of transition and development forum one period to another period and there are verity of sports which are played in India which has a lot of value for the public.
So we can say to improve the sports culture of India , it is the responsibility of SAI. Sports ministry to improve and raise the standard of games and sports and provide the best of facility to players ,teams and coach as well ..
